ASC 3rd Annual Carnival 2017 FAQ


What is Austin Sunshine Camps (ASC)?

The Young Men’s Business League’s (YMBL) major philanthropic endeavor in time and money is the Austin Sunshine Camps (ASC) which they established in 1928. ASC serves more than 1,000 low-income, high potential children every summer and many more through the  year-round “Sunshine Afterschool” program for Fulmore Middle School children. The mission of ASC is to engage and empower youth through education and outdoor experiences by providing an environment that fosters growth and development.


What is Carnival?

Carnival, formerly known as Fall Fest, is an annual fundraiser that focuses on offering the community a fun, family atmosphere at surrounding ASC’s new Zilker Lodge facilities. The objective is to raise money and bring awareness to the programs and services provided by Austin’s only FREE camp for low income youth ages 7-15.


How much are tickets?

Admission is free to the general public. Passport wristbands can be purchased for $10 that gives kids unlimited participation across all activities. VIP reception tickets are $50.


Can I order tickets in advance?

Yes. You can purchase Passport and VIP reception tickets through our secure payment system at www.ASCCarnival.com.


How much of the proceeds to go to the cause?

All proceeds benefit ASC Programs: Free Summer Camp and Sunshine Afterschool for 1,100+ economically disadvantaged youth in Austin.


Are there any age restrictions?

No! The event is open to people of all ages. Alcoholic beverages will only be sold to those who are 21+.


How long will the event go?

Carnival will run from Noon to 4:00 pm. VIP reception will run from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.


What can I do at the event?

We will have many activities for people of all ages! Activities include pumpkin decorating, silent auction, cake walk, ring toss, fishing for prizes, bowling, football toss, cornhole, gaga ball, face painting, hayride, photo booth , virtual reality games, and more!


How do I get access to the VIP reception?

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $50 at www.ASCCarnival.com or onsite at the Carnival.


Will there be food for purchase?

Yes! We will feed the masses with hamburgers provided by Cattlemen Care, treats from snow cones to popcorn, and delicious eats from amazing local food trucks who have offered to donate a percentage of their proceeds to the cause. We will have vegan and vegetarian options as well.


Will there be parking?

Parking is free around Zilker Park thanks to the City of Austin! Handicapped parking is also available.


Are pets allowed?

Yes, furry family members are allowed, and must remain on a leash. No animals are allowed inside the Zilker Lodge. You must pick up after your pets.


Will the event be handicapped accessible?

Yes, the Zilker Lodge entrance is handicap accessible, and elevators are provided as well as handicapped parking throughout the park.

How can I donate if I can’t attend?

Online donations will be accepted at www.ASCCarnival.com or www.sunshinecamps.org to make a credit card donation.

Can I bring my own food or drink?

We kindly ask that no one bring outside food or drink.


Are chairs or coolers allowed?

We’ll have plenty of water and soft drinks that can be purchased and lots of chairs and benches for resting, so we ask that attendees please leave their coolers and chairs at home.
