ASC Carnival, formerly known as Fall Festival, gives the local community the opportunity to help raise money for children of low income families to attend the organization’s summer camp and after-school programs. At last year’s event, over 500 people attended the festival, generating $10,000 in donations and sponsorships. All proceeds benefit ASC Programs.

In addition to games, face-painting and other carnival attractions, Carnival will feature:

  • A “Bigger Tent”: We have ‘built a bigger tent’ to get more Austin companies and professionals involved in the work we do to help low income children across Central Texas. We are asking local companies to sign up a team of employee volunteers to create and staff carnival attractions. Carnival attendees will be asked to vote on their favorite attractions and team winners will be announced at the VIP Reception.

‘Bigger Tent’ will feature a new interactive area complete with virtual reality, augmented reality, and educational games and apps that the kids are sure to enjoy! Businesses can sign up for the Bigger Tent competition at www.ASCCarnival.com/BiggerTent.

  • Food: What would a carnival be without snow cones, popcorn, drinks and yummy food? ASC Carnival will have food for purchase with hamburgers provided by Cattlemen Care. Amazing local food trucks will also serve up delicious eats and treat,s and have offered to donate a percentage of their proceeds to the cause.
  • VIP Reception: To celebrate the many companies in Austin who help support ASC’s mission throughout the year, and especially for companies participating in this year’s Carnival, a VIP Reception will be held at the Zilker Lodge & Pavilion. City of Austin Mayor Adler is the guest speaker, Team Attraction Awards will be presented, live music, open bar and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Sponsors, corporate team participants, and volunteers will receive free entry.

Carnival would not exist without generous corporate sponsorship and passionate community support! Current sponsors include The Zebra, Apple the Domain, Capital Factory, Saatva, Noble Capital, Balance Development and partners H-E-B, PlainsCapital Bank and Austin Parks Foundation. To learn more about sponsorship packages, please visit www.ASCCarnival.com or contact Sponsorship Chair Michael McGovern at mm@gobergroup.com. “Community and sponsorship support is what makes ASC and Carnival happen. The experiences and encouragement we are able to provide the children who participate in our programs is truly inspiring. Almost immediately you can see the difference we make,” said Director of Development, Linda Thompson, ASC. “We are thrilled to see Carnival getting stronger every year, with no signs of slowing down. This year we are expecting bigger attendance, more sponsors and hope to exceed last year’s fundraising efforts by more than half, which will really make a positive impact on these children’s lives. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.”

To date, Carnival has raised over $15,000 to support low-income children to attend ASC’s free summer camp and the Sunshine AfterSchool Program for economically disadvantaged youth in Austin. Have questions? Visit our FAQ page on the ASC Carnival website.

About Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps

In 1928, The Young Men’s Business League (YMBL) of Austin recognized the serious community threat of youth tuberculosis and established the Austin YMBL Summer Sunshine Camps (ASC) in Zilker Park, as it was said that exposure to sunshine could promote healing from the disease. The park provided space in which local economically disadvantaged children could gain weight, grow strong and spend time outdoors.  ASC renders the space and comfort children need to look beyond their current situation and dream big.

Today,  ASC serves more than 1,100 low-income, high potential children every summer and many more through the year-round Sunshine Afterschool program for Fulmore Middle School children. For more information, call (512) 472-8107 or visit www.sunshinecamps.org.
